Assiminea succinea (L. Pfeiffer, 1840) Atlantic Assiminea

    Under dead palmetto frond, just above the high water mark, between Browns Creek Fish Camp and the Heckscher Drive bridge, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida 1/14/2008 (largest is about  2 mm.). The colony of Assiminea were sharing the habitat with Melampus bidentatus Say, 1822 [Eastern Melampus] - juvenile specimen illustrated in the above image, bottom left. Digital image by Bill Frank.
